Q.  How can Healthy Texas offer options that cost less than other small business insurance?
A.  The state of Texas aids Healthy Texas through government funding of this specific program, making it possible to offer lower monthly premiums.

Q.  If my company signs up for Healthy Texas, will I be eligible for a federal tax credit?
A.  The federal tax credit is generally available to employers with less than 25 full-time employees.  You can find more information at http://irs.gov and http://www.tdi.texas.gov/consumer/cpmhealthcare.html

Q.  Do I qualify for the tax credit?

Q.  Can I make any of the Healthy Texas options available for part-time employees?
A.  Yes.  Employers can offer all Healthy Texas options to part-time employees.  Please note, however, part-time employees are not considered “eligible employees.”

Q.  Who is considered an “Eligible Employee”?
A.   An eligible employee…
*Work at least 30 hours a week
*Not seasonal, temporary or a substitute
*Does not already have health insurance through another source like Medicare or Medicaid, a spouse’s health plan, or   through a retirement plan

Q.  Is this a federal program?
A.  Healthy Texas is not a federal program.  Healthy Texas options were created for Texas small businesses and funded by the Texas Legislature.
